Maria Cruz

Pronouns: She/Her/EllaMaria Cruz is a dedicated advocate and way maker for equity and inclusion, with a strong passion for empowering marginalized and underrepresented communities. With over 18 years of experience in not-for-profit organizations, Maria currently serves as the AVP of Employee Engagement at Evergreen Health and the President of the Hispanic Women's League amongst other board positions.
Born in Puerto Rico, Maria's commitment to creating positive change has been a driving force throughout her life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from Hilbert College. She is a proud mother of a 20-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son.

Daniella Dilia Gallego
Vice President, 3-Year Term
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
Daniella is a Colombian-American born in Beaufort, South Carolina to immigrant parents, whose experiences have shaped her unwavering commitment to advocacy. She is deeply passionate about empowering marginalized communities, particularly individuals experiencing homelessness, immigrants, and Latinx populations. Having overcome significant challenges herself, Daniella earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Oswego, exemplifying resilience and determination.
As the Community Engagement Coordinator at the Homeless Alliance of WNY, she leads the Youth Action Board and Program Advisory Committee, ensuring those with lived experience play a central role in decision-making. Driven by her professional expertise and lived experiences, Daniella is committed to uplifting Latinx women in her community and inspiring the next generation of Latina leaders.

Tiffany Torres
Treasurer, 2-Year Term
Nickname: Tiff
Pronouns: She/Her/EllaTiffany Torres is a dedicated and accomplished leader advocating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) at Evergreen Health. As the Manager of Diversity & Belonging, she spearheads initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace where every team member feels valued and empowered.
Tiffany serves as the Treasurer and Chair of both the Fundraising and Marketing/Public Relations committees of the Hispanic Women's League. Her favorite aspect of being involved in the organization is empowering Latinas, particularly through their Latina Mentoring Initiative. Passionate about advocacy, she dedicates herself to helping individuals reach their full potential by following the path that God has laid out for her. A fun fact about Tiffany is that she experiences what she describes as "musical Tourette's," often bursting into song unexpectedly, adding a joyful touch to her interactions.

Angelica Maria Gonzalez
Vice Chair, 2-year term

Angelica Gonzalez is the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), where she focuses on developing marketing strategies, increasing community engagement, and promoting regional transportation initiatives. She holds an M.S. in Public Relations from Buffalo State University and a B.S. in Digital Cinematography from Full Sail University.
Previously, Angelica worked at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and Gelia. She is the Vice Chair of the Hispanic Women’s League, a member of PRSA Buffalo Niagara, a mentor for the Latina Mentoring Initiative, and the Founder of Relato Media. As a proud mother of two, Angelica strives to be an inspiration and an advocate for youth and her community.

Naylah Noelii Colon-Monte
Secretary, 2-Year term
Pronouns: She/Her/Ella
Naylah is a proud Puerto Rican woman ready to continue to break cycles and generational curses. She is a full-time college student at Buffalo State University pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work while working for People Inc. She is very passionate about representation, advocacy, change, and ensuring that people who have been silenced, marginalized, and often overlooked are truly heard and seen. Naylah heavily values her education in this field as she understands she is privileged to continue her education as there is so much power in knowledge and it is a lifelong process. She wants to teach younger generations of women that their future should not be dependent on a man or anybody who tries to dim their light. She wants to provide resources for all women so that they can strive and be the best version of themselves while being validated and truly supported.
Being active in the Hispanic Women's League has played a crucial role in Naylah being able to recognize what needs to change in our community and actively working towards that, despite what may be thrown at her.

Carmen Doeseckle
Board Member, 2-Year Term
Pronouns: She/Her/EllaCarmen, a Buffalo native, has been deeply involved in the city's West Side Latino community since childhood. Raised by her mother and grandmother, she learned the importance of family and community service. With 30 years in banking, Carmen currently works as a Banking Officer in Foreign Exchange at Citi Bank. A dedicated community leader, she has served on numerous boards, including the Hispanic Women's League for over 20 years. Carmen enjoys reading and shares her home with a dog and five cats.

Carol L. Tamol
Board Member, 2-Year Term
Pronouns: She/Her/EllaCarol, daughter of founding member Carmen Delvalle, joined the Hispanic Women’s League board in 2024. She has been a NYS Tax Auditor for over 30 years. She is married to Brian Tamol and has two adult children.
Carol is excited to continue contributing her time to the Fundraising and Dinner Committee of the Hispanic Women’s League, bringing fresh ideas to support the league. A fun fact about Carol: she is an avid penguin enthusiast.

Dawn Trotter
Board Member, 2-Year Term
Pronouns: She/Her/EllaDawn Trotter works as a program assistant at Stony Brook University's Peer Certification Academic Center, and also runs her own organization, Woman to Woman: We Are One, where she distributes free sanitary products and underwear to women in her neighborhood while educating them about health issues.
Dawn brings her passion of empowering women through community information, education, and strong connection to the Hispanic Women’s League.

Emily Melendez

Pronouns: She/Her/EllaEmily Melendez is the Business Development Supervisor for Say Yes Buffalo's workforce development program, connecting inner-city students with career opportunities. Previously, she was a Bilingual Family Support Specialist for Buffalo Public Schools and contributed to the Mobile Health Clinic initiative. A first-generation college graduate (Daemen University, Social Work), Hutch-Tech alumna, and HEOP graduate, Emily serves as a Board Officer for the HWL while running their Empowerment Committee.
